So yesterday my boyfriend nick and i were interviewed by our friend anna for a photo-journalism project of hers. I was really cool to give our perspective of the outside world when it's usually the opposite. For once we were able to talk recently about our relationship. questions like how we met, how we were received by friends, family, and the public, and how long we've been together.
First off, we met on facebook, i know what a way to meet someone right? haha but we hit it off when we finally met in person. That was back in May.
All around our friends seem to think this is a good relationship for the both of us. our families have mixed views. My family, my mother was wary at first, mostly because he smoked but he's quit since the first time he met her and he's grown on her. For his family its an unspoken knowledge. His family knows he is gay however, they never talk about it. However, his sister and cousins are like his friends about it and they approve of the relationship. As far as the public is concerned we havent had much negative reactions. We had a very positive one the other day. We were walking to the student center to get starbucks between classes. We were walking hand in hand. A man was walking toward us. We could tell he was going to say something just we didnt know what side of the fence he was on. He looked at us and said, "Good for you guys!" with a bright smile. That basically made our day and we were smiling throughout! We have been technically dating since May however we just recently made it official. So i guess you could say dating for 6 months together for about 3.
